Motion telemetry for Garmin

Three axes. One reliable timeline.

Record accelerometer data on a compatible Garmin watch, inspect motion on your phone, and export the raw signal with timing and gap information intact.

Built around the signal

See motion without hiding the underlying data.

GMotion Data keeps the raw samples available while adding views that make long recordings easier to inspect.

01

Aligned axes

Compare X, Y, and Z on a shared timeline with gap-aware traces instead of visually connecting missing samples.

02

Useful signal features

Inspect magnitude, dominant axis, and frequency structure as descriptive clues—not opaque claims about what a person did.

03

Quality first

Sampling rate, dropped ranges, connection events, and clock uncertainty travel with the session.

From wrist to file

A transfer path that accounts for interruption.

The watch batches samples, the phone acknowledges durable chunks, and the export preserves enough context to audit what arrived.

  1. 01

    Record

The Connect IQ watch app samples three-axis acceleration and groups readings into ordered chunks.

  2. 02

    Relay

The companion app receives a bounded stream, verifies each chunk, and acknowledges data after local persistence.

  3. 03

    Inspect

Live charts and descriptive features help you spot intensity, periodicity, axis changes, and missing regions.

  4. 04

    Export

Create a self-describing archive for analysis, reproducibility, or handoff to your own tools.

Open by design

A session is more than one CSV.

Each export separates canonical samples, derived features, quality events, and the original received chunks.

FilePurpose
data/accelerometer.csvTimestamped X, Y, Z, and magnitude samples.
data/features.csvWindowed descriptive signal features.
quality/gaps.csvKnown missing sequence ranges and reasons.
quality/events.csvConnection, resume, and session lifecycle events.
raw/chunks.jsonlAuthoritative chunks as received by the phone.
manifest.jsonSession, device, timing, counts, and integrity metadata.

A SHA-256 checksum list is included so downstream workflows can verify the archive.

Details

What to expect.

Does GMotion Data require Garmin Health API access?

No. The product uses a Connect IQ watch app and companion-phone communication for user-initiated recordings. It does not provide Garmin Health enterprise API access.

Can it identify a specific activity?

The app can surface descriptive patterns such as intensity and periodicity. Those indicators are heuristic and are not a definitive activity classifier.

What happens if the connection drops?

A bounded watch queue absorbs short interruptions. Missing ranges that cannot be recovered are recorded explicitly rather than silently bridged.

Is this a medical product?

No. GMotion Data is a motion recording and analysis utility, not a medical device or a substitute for clinical measurement.

Keep the raw signal. Keep the context.
